The trade deadline is about a week away and the Heat are looking to make a big splash to get back to the NBA finals. There have been several names that have been tossed around for the Heat to try and trade for or sign when bought out by their current teams. Russell Westbrook, Kemba Walker, Andre Drummond, LaMarcus Aldridge, Rude Gay, Demar Derozan, John Collins are just some of the top names flying around that the Heat are trying to go after in time for their playoff push.
I know some of these names are not going to come without a big trade coming from Miami but they are all realistic for the trade to happen. The only thing is, does Miami want to trade a lot of their future for something that is temporary. That answer has yet to be answered but we will shortly find out how far they are willing to do for these big names around the league. I think only a few names on this list would fit well with Miami. John Collins is a young player with a lot of talent and would play and fit very well next to Bam in the front court. That would be a great fit as they are both young, coming in from the same draft class, and both can score, guard, and pass as big men in the league. Another fit would be Kemba Walker. He would be another player who can create his own shot and score at a very high level. This has been a problem for Miami at times because it seems that Jimmy is the only person who can get a shot whenever he wants. This would help when Jimmy is off the court and give Miami a second option down the stretch in a close game. I think Rudy Gay, Demar Derozan and even LaMarcus Aldridge would be a goof fit in Miami. The best two players out of these three would be Gay and Demar because Gay is a stretch 4 who can play along side Bam while also guarding multiple positions on the defensive end. Demar would be a great fit because he is a wing player, just like Jimmy, who can create his own shot and is still a very explosive and talented player who is smart and makes winning plays. LaMarcus would not be a bad fit at all though because he can play with Bam but he does lack a defensive skill set that the Heat like their players to have. He is also on the older side of his career to make a big trade for and someone who is not very athletic. Maimi also has an injury exception that the league has granted them for Myers Leonard, who is no longer with the team, for him being injured for the rest of the reason. They have just under 5 million dollars to sign a player. I am very high on them signing Demarcus Cousins. I have always been a big fan of him and he would be great playing alongside Bam or even coming off the bench for Bam to play with the second unit. His ability to shoot and play around the rim would help Miami greatly in being able to play an all around steady game on the offensive end. Either way, Miami has a lot of options coming up that they have to deal with for the upcoming postseason. Any one of these options would be good for Miami but unfortunately, I don't make these decisions for the team. We will see what they decide is best for the team to win the NBA finals this season.
