2020 NBA Draft Winners And LosersThe NBA draft has come and gone and here are our grades for the best and worst drafts. Who got great value and who failed to make enough to justify the use of draft capital? Let's take a closer look. Winners: Golden State Warriors James Wiseman reminds me of the love child of Dwight Howard and Anthony Davis. He flashes high level shot blocking, paint protection and rim running ability. If he can become a more polished offensive player he can easily become a star. Grade A San Antonio Spurs: In a draft with no slam dunk star talent ( Even the players we think can become stars and superstars have their question marks). The Spurs landed Devin Vassell a two way wing we feel can likely be an excellent 3 and D starter. Grade A+ New York Knicks The Knicks talked to multiple teams worried that their primary target wouldn't last until the 8th pick. In the end they got their man. Obi Toppin a dynamic bouncy big man with the tools to be an elite scorer. In the late 1st they drafted on our favorite three and D prospects. Immanuel Quickley. Grade A+ Honorable Mention: Pacers, Pistons, Nuggets Losers: Charlotte Hornets: Lamelo Ball is a terrible shooter and defender who has serious holes in his game to even be a quality NBA starter. The Hornets picked based on position of need but did they take the best prospect? I hope for the fans sake we are wrong. Grade D+ Utah Jazz: Udoka Azubuike is a project big man who is a poor foul shooter with a limited offensive game and questions about his ability to defend. Not sold he's even a NBA caliber bench big. Grade D Brooklyn Nets: The Nets only had a late 2nd round pick and they have plenty of young talent so a late 2nd round flyer is understandable. Grade C The Recommended Content Widget will appear here on the published site.

5 potential busts in the 2020 NBA draft Sometimes a player underperforms the place they were drafted. Sometimes they don’t even stick through their rookie contract. Here are five potential busts we have identified in the 2020 NBA draft. Lamelo Ball Ball isn’t an elite athlete, isn’t an elite defender and is a poor jump shooter. His older brother became a passable NBA starter but we are concerned the younger Ball won’t even be that. It would not surprise us if he doesn’t finish his rookie contract before ending up back overseas in Australia or Europe. Obi Toppin Toppin is a good story who has shot up draft boards based on his motor and athletic tools but he is extremely raw with no advanced skills. He will likely be a rotational big at best and underperform his draft slot. Onyeka Okongwu Okongwu is a project offensively and isn’t an elite shot blocker. He has a good motor and a good nose for the basketball but he is so raw the perfect team would have to develop him like the Spurs for him to ever be more than a backup big. We expect him to underperform his draft slot as well. Tyrese Haliburton Haliburton isn’t bad he’s just nothing special. Not a high level athlete or scorer, none of the tools you expect from a potential star. Honestly if he is even a lower tier starter we would be surprised we see a passable backup PG and nothing more and in the NBA those are pretty easy to find. Jaden Mcdaniels Mcdaniels lacks a consistent motor and a rail thin body that will be abused in the NBA unless he locks himself in a weight room. The raw tools are intriguing but we worry he doesn’t love to play and won’t finish his rookie contract on an NBA roster. The Recommended Content Widget will appear here on the published site.

5 potential Superstars in the 2020 NBA Draft
Every draft has prospects with higher potential than others this year is no different. Although some argue the 2020 NBA draft isn’t as deep there are still pockets of high potential talent available. Here are our five potential superstars in the 2020 NBA draft. We have ranked them on likeliness of achieving their ceiling. Anthony Edwards Edwards is a skilled three level scorer who flashes an elite first step and tight handle he could potentially be a Carmelo Anthony type scorer in the NBA. James Wiseman Wiseman is an athletic freak possessing all the tools to be an elite rim protector at the NBA level. He has some short comings in basketball IQ and tends to commit dumb fouls but the raw potential to be a Dwight Howard or Walmart version of Anthony Davis exists in our opinion. Killian Hayes Hayes is probably one of the safer high upside picks in this draft. He is an elite playmaker who makes routine plays with ease, his basketball IQ is off the charts. He showcases a tight handle and solid array of scoring moves including floaters and a nice touch on his jumpshot. He reminds us a lot of Tony Parker Deni Avdjia Deni is another high IQ player who isn’t exceptional on paper but that lack of flashiness could be deceiving. He has a good shooting touch and usually makes the right play. He could potentially be a Danillo Gallinari type at the next level. Cole Anthony Cole Anthony Is an Enigma. His raw athletic ability and tight handle say future superstar but a knee injury and inconsistent production cast doubt on his ceiling is he a poor man’s Derrick Rose, a Ty Lawson clone or something less? We see star potential but it’s a risk whether he ever fulfils it. The Recommended Content Widget will appear here on the published site.

RJ Hampton Could Be A Future Star9/25/2019 RJ Hampton Could Be A Future Star
RJ Hampton oozes high level NBA potential but one thing many don’t talk about are his attitude and work ethic. “He just seems like someone who gets it” One league executive told me. “If he isn’t a star I will be shocked” We feel the same way here at Basketball Rehab. Let’s take a closer look at RJ Hampton and learn this 5 star high school recruit a bit better.
Roderick "R. J." Hampton Jr was born February 7, 2001 and currently plays for the New Zealand Breakers of the National Basketball League (NBL). He attended Little Elm High School in Little Elm, Texas and was considered a five-star recruit and one of the top players in his class. Hampton was recruited by top NCAA Division I programs but chose to bypass college and play professionally. He has played for the United States under-17 and under-16 national teams. He won gold medals at the 2017 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship and 2018 FIBA Under-17 World Cup. Hampton possess an elite first step and explodes off the dribble. His scoring ability is really quite impressive as is his versatility. R.J. Had 11 pts , 4 asts and 3 rebs during NBL blitz. We will have to wait a bit longer but we expect an even bigger contribution when the National Basketball League season opens. The Recommended Content Widget will appear here on the published site.

Marvin Bagley III has unlimited potential; Zion Williamson is an athletic freak and Cassisus Stanley might have been made by a mad scientist in a laboratory.
All of these elite prospects have one thing in common they have been commits to Duke University. Stanley has yet to make his collegiate debut however his potential is clear at 6’6” with a rangy wingspan and elite athleticism he has all the tools you want in a superstar NBA player. His high school stats at Sierra Canyon follow. Most impressively were the 4 assists and 7 rebounds Stanley averaged in high school showing he could impact the game in multiple ways. His 18 points per game are more impressive when you appreciate his versatility. Zion Williamson was just as impressive at Spartanburg Day High School his stats were 32 points 11 rebounds and 3 assists per game. Zion has always been a beast on defense in both high school and college and that’s never been the concerning side with how he’ll translate in the NBA. Marvin Bagley III has everything you want in a modern NBA big man. Elite athleticism, good wingspan, great motor and the potential to be a knock down jump shooter. Bagley also dominated in high school and college. At Sierra Canyon High School Bagley’s stats were 25 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists per game. In college Bagley and Zion continued to perform. Bagley Posted 21 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists at Duke. Zion’s freshmen stats were 23 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists per game. My biggest concerns with Zion are lack of advanced handle, literally no jump shot and lack of length and height. I do not have these concerns about Bagley. We have yet to see what Cassius Stanley can do in college but I expect big things from him. We here at Basketball Rehab see Bagley as a future superstar. You can read more about that here . We are not as high on Zion . Cassius Stanley is a wait and see as we don’t have his college performance to measure yet but for now our money is on Marvin Bagley III out of the three.
