The Top 25 NBA Players Under 258/19/2018 Bleacher Report released their version but we felt it was lacking so we are doing our own.
Our methology is as such the top 5 of our list are stars or close to it. 5-25 have star potential but are not there yet. Some of our lower ranked players have definate star potential such as Marraken but are ranked lower because we think they are not as close to achieving it. We did not include any rookies as without time spent playing at the NBA level there is no barometer of their full potential. Rankings are weighted based on performance, overall potential and number of league years. The List: 1.Greek Freak 2. Donovan Mitchell 3. Jayson Tatum 4. Joel Embiid 5. Nikola Jokic 6. Karl Anthony Towns 7. Ben Simmons 8. Kristaps Porzingis 9. Jaylen Brown 10. Clint Capella 11. Gary Harris 12. Jamal Murray 13. Devin Booker 14. Dario Saric 15. Aaron Gordon 16. Myles Turner 17. Buddy Hield 18. D'angelo Russell 19. Julius Randle 20. Brandon Ingram 21. Fred Van Vleet 22. Lauri Marraken 23. Dennis Smith Jr 24. Og Anouby 25. This article won't argue basketball talent or charity giving. Lebron is one of the 10 greatest players of all time however much debate has been made who is the greatest competitor. We will seek to answer this by comparing their defining moments.
Michael Jordan - The Flu Game Sick and suffering from flu-like symptoms that at times he staggered, a dehydrated and exhausted Michael Jordan wills himself to 38 points against the Utah Jazz in a pivotal Game 5, adding to the Bulls star's legend as a clutch performer and relentless competitor. Kobe Bryant- The Achilles Game Bryant felt pain earlier that game a likely achilles strain but the Lakers needed a win to make the playoffs. He continued to push his body. With about 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter he fell to the court after hearing a pop crumpled in pain. Bryant would pick himself up and limp to the free throw line under his own power to make the two free throws to help seal it. Lebron James - The Cramps Game In the middle of Game 1 of The Finals, the air conditioning at the AT&T Center gave out. The temperature rose and LeBron James was the player most affected. Suffering from cramps, James was subbed out multiple times in the second half, leaving the game for good with 3:59 left in the fourth quarter and the Heat within two. The Heat would lose the finals in 5 to the Spurs. If you ask me I give an edge to Kobe Bryant for the risk he took to his longterm health, I put Jordan second as it was still quite gutsy what he did. I will let you the reader decide on Lebron for yourself. What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments. The Recommended Content Widget will appear here on the published site.

NBA Player Waiver Claims 2018-20198/14/2018 Waiver claims are something of a rarity in the NBA. In order to claim a player off waivers, a team generally must be able to fit the player’s entire salary into cap room, a traded player exception, or a disabled player exception. While there are a few teams with sizable trade exceptions available, disabled player exceptions can only be granted during the season, and the Kings are the only team with real cap room left.
With those limitations, the players most frequently claimed on waivers are those on minimum salary deals, since any club is eligible to place a claim on those players using the minimum salary exception. Even then though, there are exceptions — the minimum salary exception can only be used to sign players for up to two years, so the same rules apply to waiver claims. If a player signed a three-year, minimum salary contract, he can’t be claimed using the minimum salary exception. Taking into account all the rules that reduce the odds of a waiver claim – not to mention the limited roster spots available for NBA teams – it makes sense that nearly all of the players who get released ultimately clear waivers. During the 2017/18 league year, only four players were claimed off waivers. That number was six in 2016/17 and seven in 2015/16. Despite how infrequent they are, we still want to track all the waiver claims that take place during the 2018/19 league year, so we’ll do so in the space below. This list will be updated throughout the offseason and regular season to include the latest claims. Here’s the list: Washington Wizards 1

![]() Devin Booker is one the best young scorers in the NBA. The question is will ever improve enough defensively to maximize his potential? Booker has improved offensively each year in the league and at only 21 you can make the argument that his growth is not done. Why do I think he might only be a serviceable starter and not a star? Basketball is a two way game in order for a player to be a star they need to be elite at either offense or defense and at least average at the other. Without this combination of skills they will not have a star level impact on the game. Many see that Booker is a 20 point plus per game scorer and think this means he is destined for stardom. I disagree, Booker is an absolute sieve defensively for every 20 points he scores he gives up 30 making him a net negative on the court. He could be a prime Melo or more a Tyreke Evans or Bradley Beal type. I think a likely outcome based on his pedestrian 2.4 win shares per season averaged is prime Ben Gordon. If you don't remember Ben Gordon here is what he did during his prime. Over a 5 year stretch he was a solid NBA starter despite being a defensive liability. During three of those years prior to a huge contract extension he signed he had two 20 point scoring average seasons sound familiar? The thing is his metrics were still better than Booker's. Booker's defensive rating has consistently been around 115. The average is around 105. His offensive efficiency rating is about 105 or roughly league average. Will Devin Booker be more than the next Ben Gordon? The next few seasons will tell us for sure. I however for the record have some serious doubts. ![]() Even if your not a fan of the Golden State Warriors it is likely you have heard of the other sharpshooting splash brother. Klay Thompson is an all star SG and elite perimeter shooter that solicits nightmares from opposing defenses. What many may not realize is Klay developed his game to this point. He was not a 20 point scorer at the NBA level right away. Buddy Hield despite some unfair comparisons to Steph Curry holds much of the same promise as the other splash brother. Hield is a bit old for a 2nd year player but at 24 still has some growth left. Typically NBA player growth stops at 26. The question is where was Thompson as a player at a similar age? What other players is Hield compared to and how does he stack up? Hield shot 45% from the field and 43% from 3 point land at a similar career point Klay Thompson shot 42% from 3 and OJ Mayo and JJ Redick 36%. Hield posted 3.8 rebounds per game higher than all these players with the next highest total of 3.1. Defensively is the main difference at this point. Thompson at this stage in his career was a much better defender. If Buddy Hield wants to be a comparable type of player his growth defensively will go a long way toward telling us if this is his destiny.
